KaReena D. Sanders : I am the 4th of 5 girls. I’m 22 years old, born and raised in Topeka, KS. Moved to Kansas City in 2015 for college. Finishing my last year of undergrad, majoring in Social Work, with a minor in Criminal Justice. Involved in a lot with church, community, and school so I stay very busy.

Respicius Francis May you tell us, what exact is the The Dream Center Kansas City??
KaReena D. Sanders :The Dream Center Kansas City is a faith based non profit organization. Our goal is to reintegrate homeless individuals and families back into society by providing the necessary services and tools to ensure reintegration is successful.

KaReena D. Sanders :July 20th, 2018 prior to that it was under a “Doing Business As” since March.

Respicius Francis :What thing pushed/impressed you to open The Dream Center Kansas City??
KaReena D. Sanders :God gave me this vision back when I was in high school. I sat on it for a while because others told me I was “too young”. Fast forward, I knew that because God had given me the vision I needed to just do it, so that’s what I did, tuned out the naysayers and did what God said.

Respicius Francis How is the situation and the number of homeless people in the US?
KaReena D. Sanders :Not sure of the exact numbers, but I do know homeless rate is pretty high in the U. S. I’ve seen a fairly large amount here in Kansas City.

KaReena D. Sanders :Being new, I haven’t faced any challenges yet but I’m sure challenges will come.

Respicius Francis :the Government support you in operating your Centre?
KaReena D. Sanders :Not yet, but will be soon.

Respicius Francis :Does your Centre help other categories of people besides/other than
the homeless people?
KaReena D. Sanders :We plan to help low income families and individuals as well.

Respicius Francis :How is the response of people to support your Centre?
.KaReena D. Sanders : Overwhelming amount of support.

Respicius Francis :Do you have sponsors for your Centre?
KaReena D. Sanders : We do have sponsors, will be adding more soon.

Respicius Francis :How many people do you serve at your Centre?
KaReena D. Sanders :This month we served roughly 75-100 people at our “first Friday” event.

Respicius Francis :You think, what are the causes for some people to be homeless in the US?
KaReena D. Sanders :Various different reasons. One being poverty. A lot of people just can’t afford the cost of living. Minimum wage isn’t enough to live on, especially if you have children. Some have no choice, on the other hand some choose to be homeless. Ex. People with severe drug addictions: spend their money on drugs, the drug is more important these having a place to stay.

Respicius Francis :What are your future expectations for your Centre and the dealings?
KaReena D. Sanders : Plan to have a building(s) and there will be programs. Our goal is to reduce homelessness and poverty rates. We do plan to expand around the world.

Respicius Francis: Does the Government make reasonable efforts to solve the problem
of homeless to her citizens?
KaReena D. Sanders : They could be doing more.

Respicius Francis :Do you think racial segregation in US to blacks is over
KaReena D. Sanders : Unfortunately, it’s not over.

How is the situation of non native citizen to participate in
activity in US?is it Friendly?
KaReena D. Sanders : Can’t speak on that issue.

Respicius Francis :If it happens you have came in Africa which country would you like to visit
KaReena D. Sanders : Probably Nigeria or South Africa
